Erin Lim Rhodes: The Queen of E! News

A journalist that I admire is Erin Lim Rhodes, formerly Erin Lim (she got married in 2021). Lim Rhodes is a correspondent for E! News, as well as the host of E! News The Rundown, an entertainment broadcast exclusive to the popular photo-sharing social media app Snapchat. Lim Rhodes has been a part of the E! News team for over seven years

I admire Lim Rhodes because she is a well-seasoned entertainment reporter, keeping up with the flow of newer generations and what's currently trending. She never misses a beat (literally and figuratively). Any time I have looked her up on the internet, she can be seen interviewing a new celebrity, attending another red carpet event or hosting the latest episode of The Rundown

Lim Rhodes has attended many award shows thus far to gather insight on the lives and recent work of the public's favorite celebrities, as well as celebrities who are up-and-coming. Aside from her work as a reporter, another thing I admire about Lim Rhodes is that she is fashion-forward. I have never seen her in a bad outfit. From glistening gowns (like the one pictured on the left here) to wacky silhouettes, I can see that she enjoys  experimenting with her style and not just sticking to one  formula.

When it comes to interviewing celebrities, Lim Rhodes likes to  lean into the role of a friend more than just a journalist. She wants her interviewees to be comfortable speaking with her, and she maintains a confident and up-beat tone. She will usually phrase her questions in a way that makes her sound approachable, and not like she is just a person with a microphone, pining for answers. Of all the recorded celebrity interviews that I have watched by Lim Rhodes, no celebrity has looked uncomfortable during the process, nor have they rejected a chance to be interviewed by her.

In a recent red carpet interview that she conducted at the SAG Awards with Jack Quaid (the son of actors Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid), Lim Rhodes was able to catch Quaid for just a couple of minutes, but was also able to pack in five solid questions displaying that she did her research on Quaid. She mentions in this interview she read that Quaid "wants to play more weirdos." I was able to track down where he said that, and it was apparently in an interview with The New York Times. The biggest takeaways from that interview can also be found on Reddit - where there are no paywalls for access. Sorry NYT, I am too broke of a college student to give you my money.

Erin Lim Rhodes wears a handful of hats in the world of entertainment journalism, and I am glad that there is someone in this particular field who cares for it so much and truly puts in the work. On the E! News website, you will find a page that is curated to show off Lim Rhodes' interviews. Lim Rhodes has shown time and time again that she conducts thorough research on sources and subjects, shows up completely prepared and dresses the part. From watching her work growing up to now, she has inspired me to not only gather the facts and important details before interviewing someone, but to also have fun with it! Journalism is all about the people. No story can exist without people who help make it happen. I look forward to reading about and watching Erin Lim Rhodes' future stories and entertainment coverage.
